If You Were Mine was published on 1st September by Vintage and launched on Thursday 4th September 2008 in the beautiful old Reading Room of the Barr-Smith Library, Adelaide University. Prize-winning novelist and essayist, Brian Castro, launched the book, and that, all by itself, was such an honour.

Many thanks to Clarence Hill for supplying us with some of their lovely wines.

What a joy it is to send off a much-scribbled over manuscript and have it returned - pristine pages with the faint smell of the printer's workshop lingering about them, a luscious cover. If You Were Mine looks and feels like a new entity, a book with a life of its own. I do hope readers will enjoy the landscapes and characters it contains as much as I enjoyed bringing them to the page.
