NIGHTS IN THE ASYLUM LAUNCHED

At long last, I am delighted to announce that Nights In The Asylum was launched by Nicholas Jose in a wonderful, warm and celebratory event at the beautiful Imprints Booksellers, 107 Hindley Street, Adelaide.

Few first time novelists are fortunate enough to be launched by a writer they admire, especially one with Nicolas Jose's distinguished writing career. I feel deeply honoured.

This is a short extract from Nick's launch speech.

"When a new writer steps onto the stage with a first novel as bold, charged and risk-taking in its accomplishment as this one, it's an occasion to celebrate. It's a big night for the author, of course, but also a big night for all of us who are interested in literature. Nights in the Asylum is subtle, rich, wise and seductive. Published in Australia and the UK this month, it's a gorgeous act of defiance to those who say literary fiction is in trouble."

After such a compliment, I felt truly launched - the evening was, without question, the very brightest spot to date in the writing life.
